Today (December 14th), confirmed just how ugly humanity can be. In Newtown, Connecticut, 26 people, including 20 grade school children were killed by Adam Lanza, allegedly spawned dispute with his schoolteacher mother. Also today, in China a man stabbed 22 children at a primary school.

Fortunately, none of the victims, including one adult, in the attack suffered life threatening injuries, reports the BBC.

The attack happened at the gate of a school in Chenpeng village in Henan province.

Police arrested a 36-year-old local man at the scene.

Security at China's schools has been increased in recent years following a spate of similar knife attacks in which nearly 20 children have been killed.

The BBC's John Sudworth in Shanghai says many of the attackers have been mentally disturbed men, prompting a debate about the effects of China's recent, rapid social change and the inability of an antiquated hospital system to cope with rising levels of mental illness.

Yahoo News reports that the knife wielding attacker, 36 year-old Min Yingjun was arrested, and according to a representative of the Guangshan county government is being held in Henan.

Especially scary, no motive has been given for the stabbings. Photos of some of the children recuperating in the gallery.

Hug your children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, godchildren and play cousins extra tight today, and every day.

Sad day for everyone it seems. I am relieved to see no deaths came of from this one. Thoughts still go out for quick recovery for the people involved.

We can see the difference in countries where gun in on the loose. Knives cannot kill as quickly as weapons and high power weapons!
