Live music video channel, Boiler Room, has been putting on jam packed intimate events with artists large and small for a while. Last week in Los Angeles, Wu-Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah graced the stage along with some notable special guests, including the RZA.
Boiler Room hosted the show on May 30, featuring the aforementioned RZA, Ghostface Killah, and Wu affiliate Killah Priest. Adrian Younge and the Venice Dawn band backed up the Clansmen, with Chuck Inglish, Da$h, Jonwayne, and the Pharcyde also rocking out live as well.
Big Ghost opened up his portion of the set with the classic “Daytona 500” from his Ironman solo album debut, coming onstage to a dramatic intro provided by Venice Dawn’s vocalists. The live version stayed faithful to the original, and Ghostface was animated as expected.
Tony Starks also ran through his verse from the Kanye West track, “New God Flow” and he held it down mostly for self with a little help from a hype man. But the Boiler Room exploded when the eerie chords from “4th Chamber” were replayed by the band. Killah Priest ripped his verse from the track which originally appeared on GZA’s Liquid Swords.
Ghost pulled out all the stops for a performance of his and Adrian Younge’s “The Rise Of The Ghostface Killah” track from their collaborative album, Twelve Reasons To Die. Surrounded by some creepy looking nuns holding candles, Ghostface sat and read from a massive book as he performed the single.
