Rising Detroit rapper MAHD allows luring claps to draw in listeners before handing ears the death blow on a lyrical track titled “Out.”

Exclusively premiered by Hip-Hop Wired, the wordsmith’s message is clear: get up, get out and do something. Echoing the Motor City’s blue collar roots mixed with a millennial sentiment, MAHD discusses the importance of making a dream a reality.

Per MAHD:

This is a song about getting some type of inspiration to do something with your life. Not being distracted by a lot of things that can prevent you from reaching your goals. So often we hear songs about topics that don’t advance the culture forward.
Detroit is receptive to people having goals when they see you’re actually obtaining the goals. It’s a city that needs to see results before they fully get behind anything. If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.
I developed this belief after looking around and seeing people complacent with lives that I couldn’t picture myself living forever. I feel I have a purpose on this Earth that can bring change through my words so that’s what I’m doing.
The concept of the album 13 is a journey. It’s me experiencing some hardships and downfalls in my life at home that ultimately caused me to move out of state for a while to clear my head. “Out” is the point in the story where I’m on a road trip to my new destination and I find myself “scrolling my phone” looking for someone to talk to and keep me company. But I realized I need to keep focus and worry about the task at hand.

“Out” will appear on MAHD’s upcoming 13 album, which releases March 2.
