DJ Scream has already established himself and his Hoodrich brand as a powerhouse in the streets of Atlanta. After helping to break artists like Shawty Lo, Crime Mob, Lil Scrappy and Soulja Boy, and becoming one of the street’s most sought-after mixape DJs, Scream is ready to take his movement to the next level.

In a move that has had been rumored for months, the ATL DJ officially announced his signing to Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group imprint.

Read below to hear what Scream told Hip-Hop Wired exclusively about his new MMG deal.

Hip-Hop Wired: This deal between you and Rick Ross has been rumored for a few months now, when did Ross first reach out to you about signing with Maybach Music?

DJ Scream: Memorial Day. He flew me down after the first leg of the I Am Music Tour.

And basically, we just sat down and strategized.

His initial question was, “Do you want to be a part of this team? I really want you to be a part of this team.”

My initial answer was “yes,” because I’m a fan, and he told me he was a fan of me, which was a big compliment.

And basically we just chopped it up, put together some plays. We actually started executing with some world premiere records.

We put some things together for the Self Made project.

Basically, we’ve been waiting for the right time to drop the bomb on the world and let them know what’s going on.

Hip-Hop Wired: What are the details of the deal? Is it an artist deal? Or a label type of deal involving Hoodrich Entertainment?

DJ Scream: It’s an artist deal. Maybach Music/Warner Bros. So we’re going to be doing a DJ Scream album, definitely in 2012.

It doesn’t take away from the things that I still do in the streets, which is mixtapes, radio, breaking artists, branding artists, everything.

Of course, those will be my duties on Maybach, being that I’m a part of it.

Most of their artists are already pretty established anyway, so I’m a part of their team. But I’ma still be doing what I do.

Hip-Hop Wired: So, does this change anything with you and Hoodrich?

DJ Scream: Nah, that’s for life. That’s embedded in blood. That’s the family.

He respects the movement, he shouted out the movement.

He’s met a lot of the key players in that movement too. And we’re just coming together, building that powerhouse.

Hip-Hop Wired: You’ve been already been working on an album for awhile now, are you going to start from scratch now that you’re with Maybach Music?

DJ Scream: Nah, I’m going to feed the streets. I’m going to leak some records.

I’m going to do something for the blogs and the streets and everything.

I just want to take the approach, now that I officially have the artist stamp, I want to take the approach of always giving people music.

I want to put dope records together and just work. At some point there will be an album, and I’ll probably take the best music and compile it.

But I just want to deliver good music to the streets, the world and the industry.

So it’s official now.

DJ Scream: Definitely. MMG, Hoodrich, salute. It’s official now. Hit me up at http://www.djscreamtv.com. And hit me on the Twitter, @DJScream.
