Cicely Tyson, the esteemed actress noted for being the first African-American Actress to win an Emmy for ‘Outstanding Lead Actress in a Television Movie,’ is having her name immortalized on a place of learning. The co-founder of “The Dance Theater of Harlem” is having a New Jersey Performing Arts School named in her honor.

The cinema legend will host the unveiling ceremony for her “Cicely L. Tyson Community School of Performing and Fine Arts” Saturday, October 24. The mistress of ceremony for the event will be CNN’s Soledad O’Brien and performing at the event will be Bebe Winans and Jeff Majors.

A live auction will also take place featuring a tennis racket from Serena Williams, an “invitation package” from Bill Clinton and airplane tickets with Continental airlines.

Good for her. She truly is a living legend.
