The story of Earl Sweatshirt being sent to Samoa while his Odd Future crew was busy blowing up Stateside was so crazy that it had to be true. During the “Earl” rapper’s stay at the Coral Reef Academy while he got his life in order, his mother hooked him up with new management, including Leila Steinberg, who used to represent Tupac Shakur.

Some of Earl’s recent moves, including creating his own record label imprint via Columbia Records, were reported in New York Times profile on the introverted MC. Said story recounted how Steinberg and a group of musicians travelled to Samoa to accompany Earl, born Thebe Kgositsile, back home. The video below, shared by Earl himself, captures part of his untimely but positive stay across the world and his return.
