Cory Booker is still facing backlash over his comments on Meet The Press, slamming President Obama’s campaign tactics, and now a member of his team has abruptly quit. Booker’s  communications director has resigned in wake the fading controversy.

Anne Torres confirmed her resignation Tuesday (May 29) explaining that her position with the Newark, N.J. mayor had run its course. “I just decided it is best if I pursued other opportunities,” Torres told The-Star Ledger via telephone. “We have very different views on how communications should be run.”

Booker recently called Obama’s attack on Mitt Romney’s affiliation with Bain Capital “nauseating,” and has been doing damage control ever since. The 43-year-old released a video online to explain his rant, and appeared on MSNBC to accuse the Republican Party of twisting his words for their own benefit.

While the POTUS has yet to respond to Booker’s critique, the mayor is no stranger to making headlines for his views. He recently went on Twitter to blast New Jersey for drug policy, which he feels targets black men.
