Michael Clarke Duncan, the actor most widely known for his role in The Green Mile has died, he was 54.

Duncan suffered cardiac arrest in July, but was thought to be on the mend. As it turns out the brawny actor never fully recovered from his ailments and remained hospitalized.

His fiancée, Apprentice star Omarosa Manigault, broke the news to the Associated Press Monday (Sept. 3), revealing that he passed away earlier in the morning.

“Manigault is grateful for all of your prayers and asks for privacy at this time,” said a statement from her rep. “Celebrations of his life, both private and public, will be announced at a later date.”

Manigault is credited with saving Duncan’s life by her quick reaction to the medical scare two months ago. They were resting at home when he had the emergency, resulting in him being taken to a local hospital where he was later in listed in stable condition. She remained by his side throughout the ordeal.Doctors kept Duncan in the hospital to run extra tests on his heart.

The couple met at a Whole Food’s store in 2010, and have been close ever since.

Aside from appearing in the 1999 film alongside Oscar winner Tom Hanks, Duncan also appeared in films like The Scorpion King, and Sin City.
