Up and comer, Dominic Lord isn’t your conventional MC, and it shows on the remix to his latest track, “Pierce.” At just 18, the young Harlemite bridges the gap between luxury rap and somber emotion, using spaced-out synths and hard drums to set the mood. Pusha-T joins the party, with baking soda parables in tow—and we’re not mad at it. The track features a reworked sample of “Vowels = Space and Time” from Grimes’ Visions, done by Lord himself. The original production can be credited to Hudson Mohawke.

If  Lord looks oddly familiar, you’re not crazy. He’s actually a former member of A$AP Mob. With those days behind him, the young fashion designer-turned-MC is using “Pierce” and “Old English” to set the tone for his upcoming Fashion Show EP, which drops Friday (Sept. 7).

Check out the visuals, and take a listen to the track, after the jump.
