Missy Elliott is a legend in this here Hip-Hop game. When her and and fellow VA native Timbaland stopped through The Breakfast Clubof course one of the topics was the alleged posthumous Aaliyah album being executive produced by Drake. But also discussed, was whether or not Missy gets her just due as an artist.

“No,” said Missy when asked if she gets the respect she deserves. “I don’t mind that for some reason. I don’t like to get to that place where the expectations is so high. That can be a crazy place. I’m fine with it cause when you the underdog and then you come through and you something hot I think it elevates something better than just you being at the top. I’m okay with being underrated.”

Missy also discussed her Graves disease, which affected her thyroid gland and unfortunately didn’t allow her to record. Nevertheless, she was still “doing records behind the scenes, writing for every artist you can name.”

As for that Aaliyah album, Timbaland talked to Drake collaborator Noah “40” Shebib and got the feeling that the whole thing was “blown out or proportion,” and saying,  “I think it’s just fabricated.”

However, no one reached out to the other half of the tandem that helped make the late R&B singer a star. “I personally want to respect her family,” said Missy, who also says no one has reached out to her about an Aaliyah album. “If her mother, or her brother or father hasn’t come and said we’re ready to do an Aaliyah album… Cause I always say as fans we would want to hear Aaliyah but there’s a respect that has to be given and shown.”
