During a recent press run for Diamond In the Ruff, Freeway came through Power 105.1 headquarters to chop it up with The Breakfast Club crew. Of course, Charlemagne and DJ Envy couldn’t resist from asking about the infamous picture with Jay-Z in Philly, his current relationship with Jay and whether he was still signed to the ROC.
“I never eff’d up. He asked me to come down there, and I just wasn’t dressed for the occasion, for the picture. That’s it,” said Freeway.
When asked about his current label situation, Free quickly replied “I’m not signed to Roc-A-Fella. I don’t think it’s a Roc-A-Fella right now. I just think it’s Roc Nation, and I’m not signed to Roc Nation. I’m an independent artist. I put this album out on Babygrande Records, and I’m just doing me. Me and Jay still got a good relationship, but I’m a man. I’m doing me, you know? I’m out here feeding my family.”
Free also talks about reuniting with Just Blaze and Bink! for Diamond In the Ruff and his future plans to do an album with exclusively with them. Man, what an album that would be.
