Black Apple clothing, Hennessy Black, commissioned super producer DJ Clark Kent to create the Black In The New York Groove mixtape. The mixes selection was inspired by the sounds of NYC and its five boroughs. The “Brooklyn’s Finest” producer was critical of what tunes made the cut.
“Making this mixtape was kind of tedious because of [the] music selection,” says Clark Kent in the video discussing the project’s creation below. “We wanted to use music that was totally based on the city of New York, the stories of New York, the idea of New York. If the name New York was in the title, we listened to the song to see if it was actually worthy of being on the mixtape.”
The sneaker connouisseur added, “We took our time to make sure it was 100% worthy of being called the Black Apple mixtape.”
