Electronics giant Samsung Mobile US introduced its Samsung Galaxy Note II phone in Los Angeles Thursday (Oct. 25), tapping Kendrick Lamar as the event’s main performer. Oscar winner Octavia Spencer, actor Jaleel White, and Christina Aguilera were among the big names who came out to support the product launch.

Fresh off the release of his good kidd m.A.A.d city debut, Lamar hit the stage to perform tracks off the album.

Held at a sprawling private residence, the event showcased interactive experiences, allowing attendees to use the Galaxy Note II to create their own DJ flyers, T-shirts, and more.

Lamar, 25 is a fan of Samsung, which has become an industry leader for its revolutionary products, which enhance productivity and creativity.”They’re branding, [and] for them to attach themselves with Hip-Hop it makes me feel good, as far as who they attach themselves [to],” he tells Hip-Hop Wired. “That’s a great feeling.”

Offering a nearly 6-inch screen, the Samsung Galaxy Note II doubles as a mini-tablet device. It comes equipped with an 8-megapixel auto-focus back camera, and a 1.9 megapixel front camera, video, audio, and content services for listening to, downloading, and sharing music. The touch-screen phone also includes an S Pen, and 1-step multitasking features.
