Mike Brown’s days as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers just may be numbered. This theory isn’t anything new considering the team’s slow start to season. But the volatility of Brown’s precipitous situation has been punctuated by the stare down Kobe Bryant gave him during last night’s loss to the Utah Jazz.

The gif below says it all. The Black Mamba is on the bench in the fourth quarter, frustrated at his team’s pending L, and eyes Brown. Check that, he give Brown the official Dead Man Walking stare down. You can imagine someone handing Kobe a phone so he can call Jim Bus right then and there to say, “Get this guy outta here before I bless him with the fade, yo!”

However, according to Buss, Brown’s gig is currently secure. “I have no problems with Mike Brown at all,” Buss tells ESPN. “He just works too hard and he’s too knowledgeable for this to be happening.”

Much has been said about the Princeton offense Brown has been trying to incorporate as being pretty much a wash for the Lakers’ personel. As a former coach of the year, it’s not that Brown is a bad coach (he isn’t great, though), but his players have clearly lost confidence in him. That’s never a good sign. Just ask Mike D’Antoni.

But hey, the Lakers are 1-4. A winning streak and all is forgiven, right?
