Shawty Lo made headlines recently for the upcoming Oxygen reality show All My Babies Mamas, and has responded to his critics. The Atlanta trap rapper was vague about the television program itself, but had choice words about his responsibilities as a parent and his rough times before fame.

“I can’t talk about the show, I think I’m the show,” Shawty Lo told MTV News, dodging the question and throwing his support behind the Atlanta Falcons NFL playoffs run. Things turned serious when the “Dey Know” rapper began to break down his life story, including revealing why he began selling drugs to survive the loss of his caregivers. He then launched into how he came to father 11 children between 10 women.

“I came to be one of the largest drug dealers to come from Atlanta, Bankhead area and I started havin’ kids. When the money came, lot of women came,” shared Lo. “I wasn’t trying to have babies but I was talkin’ to these women and once when you feel like a girl your girlfriend, the rubber probably came off.” Lo continued saying that his millionaire status in the streets led the women he dated to “take the money and run with it” after becoming pregnant with his child.

Shawty Lo was quick to say that his children were born before he found fame as an upcoming rapper, saying his youngest child was born 2002  just ahead of his rap debut with D4L in 2003. However, the father of nine daughters and two sons seems to have parenthood all under control.

“You can hate all you want to, I didn’t ask for it. It just happened. Now that it happened, I’m supposed to turn my back against it?” said Shawty Lo defiantly. “If I wasn’t taking care of my kids then you would really dog me out, but I’m taking care of my kids, providing for my family. I don’t know what else to say.”

All My Babies’ Mama is scheduled for a spring debut, despite widespread protest.
