Traveler’s worst fear was realized this morning when a gunman reportedly fired at least “a dozen shots” at a terminal at Los Angeles International Airport.

It was said to be a “multi-patient incident” by the Los Angeles Fire Department as the gunman alledgedly used a high-powered assault rifle to aim at his targets. It’s another setback we Americans face in a post-911 environment. The Los Angeles Police Department were in control of the scene.

The AP reports:

The airport said on social media that there was “an incident underway at LAX.” An airport spokeswoman said outgoing flights had been halted.

The local CBS affiliate reported that a gunman had been shot and secured by law enforcement, and that some passengers were being evacuated from a terminal.

Passenger Robert Perez told the CBS affiliate that airport security agents had come through the terminal and yelled that a man had a gun.

“I heard popping and everybody dropped to the ground,” Perez said.

Witness Brian Keech said he heard “about a dozen gunshots” from inside the security gate at Terminal 3.

Television images showed two people being wheeled away by firefighters. Triage stations also were seen.

Surprisingly enough, the incident took place on the secure side of the terminal. All flights were grounded until the FBI has cleared the scene. It appears departing and arrivals have been giving the green light to resume as normal.

Fox News sports analyst Bill Reiter was actually on the scene had he reported live from his Twitter account.
