Sean “Diddy” Combs will deliver the commencement speech at Howard University on May 10.

The Bad Boy Records founder attended Howard for a couple of years before dropping out to intern at Uptown Records and eventually become founder of Bad Boy Records.

“In selecting the individuals who will be awarded honorary degrees, Howard University continues the tradition of identifying leaders whose work has clearly contributed to the advancement of their fields and the world,” said Interim President Wayne A.I. Frederick via press release. “We are honored to have Mr. Combs serve as our speaker. He sat in classrooms where our students sit, walked ‘The Yard,’ and like many students, his entrepreneurial spirit was sparked at Howard. We know he will inspire our class to work hard and to always strive for excellence.”

And for those asking, Diddy did attend Howard but never graduated from the university. However, he will be one of five individuals receiving an honorary degree from the Howard on that day, including CNN’s Wolf Blitzer and Jazz legend Benny Golson.

Think Diddy is a worthy choice to speak to the young minds of the prestigious HBCU as they prepare to enter the “real world.” Let us know in the comments.
