Lil Wayne is done with Cash Money Records, though his contract says otherwise. He spoke briefly while performing at VICE’s 20th birthday bash in Brooklyn on Friday night (December 5), a day after revealing his feelings towards the label during a Twitter rant.

“I well be out of this soon, and I do it for y’all,” Wayne said, just before the DJ dropped the rapper’s Drake-assisted single “Believe Me.”

Of course, there has been some pushback from the Internets, as some people believe the YMCMB founder is using so-called turmoil to promote Tha Carter V. Wayne, however, says Birdman will not allow him to release the record. And it isn’t like we haven’t see the famed wordsmith at odds with his one and only music home before.

Wayne’s manager Cortez Bryant scoffed at the idea of leaving the label when approached by TMZ. At this rate, the story is bound to develop expeditiously. Stay in tune with Hip-Hop Wired as updates become available.
