NBA All-Star Weekend is in NYC this year and the star power is going to be crazy. Word is Rihanna and Roc Nation are negotiating to have the Bajan singer perform in the Flatiron District.

The New York Post initially reported that an “A-list” would be shutting down the Flatiron Pedestrian Plaza on February 12.

The city will shut Fifth Avenue and Broadway from 23rd to 26th streets, as well as 24th and 25th streets between Broadway and Sixth Avenue. The stretch of 26th Street from Madison to Sixth avenues also will be closed.

It was not clear how much the city is being paid for the event.

But the disruption will include moving 100 granite blocks and planters, a Citi Bike dock, two solar-powered phone charging stations and an information booth, according to a complaint to the mayor’s office.

Six lighting towers will be installed, as well as audio and video equipment. Forklifts will be operating near residential buildings and local businesses.

The event is being organized by Jay Z’s company Roc Nation, said an NBA spokeswoman.

It turns out that the act being negotiated with to perform is Rihanna, a Roc Nation. But with Jay Z and Beyonce surely to be in town, and it being NYC, there can be a multitude of special guests.

Also, that traffic is going to be crazy.
