Yasiin Bey hasn’t been active on the music front for a bit, but that doesn’t mean the Brooklyn bomber isn’t still a huge fan of fresh Hip-Hop. The rapper formerly known as Mos Def showed off his rap nerd skills by covering seven of reclusive but superbly talented rapper MF DOOM’s classic tracks.

The series of videos is part of French website Culturebox’s “BeyOnDoom” series. The clips date back to December 2014 with last going up this past February, which showcases the distinctively-voiced Bey rapping DOOM’s “Beef Rap” song.

This performance shouldn’t be a shock to some fans who already know that Bey reps for DOOM heavy. However, who would have thought that Bey would go big and cover several of the metal face villain’s joints?

It’s kind of cool to see a legendary rapper give props to another and apparently having a lot of fun doing so. But what would be fantastic if the pair actually got into the booth together and rocked some original joints. However, we’ll take what we can get on this front.

Check out the clip playlist to see Yasiin Bey cover MF DOOM’s “Beef Rap,” “Strange Ways,” “Accordion” and other tracks.

Did Bey cover your favorite DOOM joint? Let us know in the comments.
