Wise men and women will tell the world there is no such thing as “a perfect marriage” and WNBA stars Brittney Griner and Glory Johnson proved that early on at their Goodyear, Arizona with very public assault charges on the evening of April 22.

Apparently a little domestic dustup wasn’t enough to rattle their deep-rooted love and the two exchanged vows Friday, May 8 and PEOPLE was there to document the peaceful occasion.

The two 24-year-olds reportedly cemented their union in front of 75 guests at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort in Phoenix. Fans who have been tracking the couple will notice that Johnson wore the Matthew Christopher on an episode of TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress.

As for the DV elephant in the room, the couple has also vowed to put that in the distant future after Griner got the charges dropped against her after accepting a plea deal to enter domestic violence counseling and Johnson enrolled in the program voluntarily.

“It is never OK for an argument to turn physical,” Griner said via a statement released through her attorney. “This will never happen again, and I take my relationship and my responsibility as a role model seriously. I am committed to making positive changes and I plan to use what I have learned to set a good example and help make a difference in the world around me.”
