This is a new one. Sarah Palin turned her son’s domestic violence arrest into a political talking point, and blamed the incident on President Obama.

Palin made her case at a Donald Trump rally in Tulsa, Okla. yesterday (Jan. 20). “I can talk personally about this,” she s said to the crowd. “I guess it’s kind of the elephant in the room — because my own family, going through what we’re going through today with my son, a combat vet having served in a Stryker brigade fighting for you all, America, in the war zone. But my son, like so many others, they come back a bit different. They come back hardened.”

Palin’s son, Track, was arrested at his mother’s house Monday night after he allegedly punched and kicked his girlfriend for contacting her ex. He also held an AR-15 assault rifle to his head and threatened suicide.

The 26-year-old served in the army, and reportedly suffers from post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD). At the time of the incident, Track told police that his girlfriend attacked him as well, hitting him in the eye and elbow. A day after his arrest, Palin was in Iowa to her endorsement of Trump for president.

Track faces misdemeanor charges for assault, possession of a firearm while intoxicated, and interfering with a domestic violence report.

While the notion of veterans returning from war with mental issues outdates the Obama’s administration, Palin doesn’t seem to care, and she thinks Trump is the person who can change things.

Veterans return to America  “wondering if there is that respect for what their fellow soldiers and airmen and every other member of the military have given so sacrificially to this country, and that starts at the top,” she said.

“So when my own son is going through what he goes through coming back, I can certainly relate with other families who kind of feel these ramifications of PTSD and some of the woundedness that our soldiers do return with,” she continued. “And it makes me realize more than ever, it is now or never for the sake of America’s finest that we’ll have that commander in chief who will respect them and honor them.”

Palin’s words have already struck a chord with Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, a New York-based veterans group. “It’s not President Obama’s fault that Sarah Palin’s son has PTSD,” founder and CEO, Paul Rieckhff told NBC News. “PTSD is a very serious problem, a complicated mental health injury and I would be extremely reluctant to blame any one person in particular.”
