This summer is going to be “Cool Like Dat.” 90’s Hip-Hop trio Digable Planets have reunited and are embarking on a summer tour.

Ladybug Mecca, Doodlebug and Butterfly are liking back up for a 13-city tour that starts on May 28 at the Pitchfork Music Festival. Digable Planets have had two previous reunions in 2005 and 2011. The decision to go out on tour was made after the trio performed at a New Year’s Eve party last year in Seattle.

Digable Planets have long been revered for being one of the first “alternative” Hip-Hop groups in the post-Native Tongues era. Their debut album 1992’s Reachin’ (A New Refutation of Time and Space)   eased listeners ears as Gangsta Rap was taking over. The album was powered by the hit song “The Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)” that won a Grammy that year for Best Rap Performance by a Duo Or Group.

Their sophomore effort, 1995’s Blowout Comb did not fare as well in popularity initially but has grown into a cult classic among underground Hip-Hop circles.

Camp Lo will also have dates on the tour.
