Dave Chappelle doesn’t do many appearances these days but when he does, it usually becomes an event. The comedian made an appearance at this year’s Roots Picnic in New York City and called Republican Party presidential candidate Donald Trump the “White Malcolm X” for reasons yet unknown.
Chappelle’s appearance was far too brief but it left quite the impression on the crowd under grey skies. He took a bit time to share his thoughts on the upcoming election with humorous results, but we wouldn’t necessarily call his quips an endorsement.
“I hope everybody votes. I know it’s a tough decision,” said Chappelle “Hillary Clinton vs. white Malcolm X. That crazy character, motherf—er, is gonna kill us all, and lower my taxes.”
The comment got a nice chuckle from the crowd and a fan on Instagram caught the whole thing on their cell phone camera. Of course, the joke wasn’t lost on anyone as Trump bears no resemblance whatsoever to the famed civil rights leader.
