As the rest of the world is praying for Kanye West, one Sacramento radio station is banning his music from the airwaves.
Hot 103.5 Music Director Justin Marshall told listeners that effective immediately, the station would no longer be playing Kanye West‘s music. The decision comes days after West arrived 90 minutes late to his Saint Pablo tour date there, only to perform the same song twice, rant for 30 minutes and leave.
Ticketmaster offered all of the concert goers full refunds for their tickets. But as we all know, people also spend money on clothes, gas/travel, parking and drinks too. Marshall also insists that while the refund was a nice gesture, there’s one thing people cannot get back, time.
Marshall said:
Alright – everybody came out to have a great time Saturday night. A lot of fans in the building – a lot of people had spent a lot of hard earned money, bro, a lot of hard earned time – time, time, time. Time is something we can’t get back. Everyone can get a refund back – but you can’t get your time back. You can’t get the emotion back that you were gonna put into that show, to watch someone that you love – the person that you buy their music, to perform. It’s called ‘a moment,’ folks – these are what make our lives. Moments and memories to share with each other… and he took that from people Saturday night.
Marshall is taking special exception to Kanye’s antics because he feels Hot 103.5 was one of his biggest supporters, playing every single from his The Life Of Pablo album. He was also offended by West’s rants about radio politics.
“[Kanye] told radio ‘F you,’ what? 17-something times, it felt like. Let’s talk about that real quick – sir. Let’s talk about the market, the city you decided to do that in. Sacramento has played every single off of Life of Pablo.‘”
NBC 12 News reports Sacramento’s other Hip-Hop station V101 FM says they are going to be taking a break from playing Kanye’s music for a while too.
