Now this is what we should be talking about when it comes to Carmelo Anthony. The ‘Playing For The City That Made Me‘ campaign, courtesy of Jordan Brand, drops its first episode of a wed-doc series that looks at the New York Knicks’ superstar player, and MVP candidate.

The first part of three episode series features talking heads like rapper Nas, NBA legend Bernard King, Melo’s mom dukes Mary Anthony, his brother Justice Anthony and more recounting topics like the NBA All-Star’s first time shooting at a regulation basket, sleeping with a basketball in his bed and the type of player that NYC makes you.

Although he grew up and came of age as ball player in Baltimore, the Red Hook native still reps his old hood and holds it dear to his heart. “To say you from Brooklyn really means something,” says Melo in the video. “But to say you from Red Hook, that stands for a lot.”

You can feel Melo’s passion and sincerity when he talks about repping his hometown.  The next two episodes will be out by the end of January.

Anthony’s latest signature shoe, the Jordan Melo M9, is in stores right now. Watch the first episode of ‘Playing For The City That Made Me’ below.
