French Montana’s debut album, Excuse My Frenchis finally set for a April 16th release date.

The Moroccan rapper isn’t the first and will definitely not be the last to place a kid on the front of their album. “It is about the journey of an artist that has come from Morocco to New York and worked his way to becoming one of hip hop’s hottest movements,” Bad Boy President Harve Pierre said in a statement to Rolling Stone.

And when artists choose to place a child or a picture of themselves as children as their album cover it usually is a statement of that same journey. Placing a child on your album cover usually shows that you have come of age. That you are a boy (or girl) who is now a man (or woman) and now, you are ready to tell your story.

Nas pulled it off with Illmatic, The Notorious B.I.G. did it with Ready To Die,  and nearly two decades later Kendrick Lamar accomplished the same feat with good kid, m.A.A.d. city. Will Mr. “Fanute The Coupe” pull off the same impressive debut? We’ll see.

For now, check out some of the most memorable Hip-Hop album covers with children on the cover.
