Wow time certainly flies as 2013 marks the 20th anniversary for Detroit’s own Slum Village. With that achievement comes “Forever,” the first single from their forthcoming album Evolution.

Twenty years is a longer than most groups last in Hip-Hop, though the group has undoubtedly seen a host of changes since their humble beginnings in Conant Gardens. Two-thirds of their original core – J. Dilla and Baatin – passed away in 2006 and 2009 respectively, but T3 has since added to the group’s legacy with Young RJ and Jay Dee’s younger brother Illa J, both of whom appear on this new track.

The trio ponders about a few of the coulda, woulda, shouldas about past loves. We all have those.

Slum Village has assured that fans can expect Evolution some time in June. SV will also be setting off on a world tour shortly. Check back, as we will provide the show dates when they are readily available. Enjoy “Forever” in the meantime below.
