Eve is in NYC on a promotional run for her Lip Lock album, which hit stores today. While there she made another appearance on The Breakfast Club, where she discussed her album, why she took 11 years to release new music, the difficulties of promoting herself  globally, why she couldn’t watch fellow Ruff Ryder DMX on Iyana Vanzant’s “Fix My Life,” and more.

Charlemagne inquired about seeing news outlets refer to Eve as a “former Ruff Ryder.” The pitbull in a skirt quickly cleared the air by saying “you a Ruff Ryder for life.” However, she say it was a conscious decision not to reach out to the Double R clique for any features on her project. “I love all my dogs always, Ruff Ryder for life, but this was important for me to make this album by myself,” said E-V-E.

With the Ruff Ryders in mind, The Breakfast Club also asked Eve her take on DMX’s infamous tantrum on Vanzant’s show. “I couldn’t watch it. I would refuse to watch it,” said the “Make It Out This Town” rapper.

But she was sure to defend her close friend in the same breath. “I think X knows exactly who he is. I don’t think he’s lost in any way,” explained Eve. In her eyes, X knows he has a problem and it’s up to him to fix it.
