Cassie told a joke to Esquire magazine for their ongoing “Funny Jokes from a Beautiful Woman” feature in its June/July 2013 issue. More importantly, it also meant a photo shoot with the gorgeous R&B crooner, and Diddy’s significant other.
Says Esquire:
This is Cassie, a 26-year-old model and R&B artist. Just Cassie? “It’s not like I’m Madonna,” the Connecticut native says. “I’ve been Cassie my whole life.” But why no last name? “People would meet me and say, ‘What’s your stage name?’ ‘Well, Cassie.’ ” (Her last name is Ventura, by the way.) She was just Cassie even before she met fellow one-namer Diddy, who was something of a mentor during production of her first album, the familiarly named Cassie, in 2006. The follow-up is due later this year. Aside from that, she appeared on Nicki Minaj’s 2012 single “The Boys,” and this April she released her own mixtape, featuring tracks with Rick Ross and Wiz Khalifa. And no, she did not call it Cassie. (It’s RockaByeBaby.)
