Rising singer-songwriter Elijah Blake asserted himself as a wizard with the pen on hits records like Usher’s “Climax.” With his solo debut, Songs About Melody, on the way, the young crooner looks to make waves with his new single “Vendetta.”

The track features J. Cole, who also handled the production duties on the emotional cut. If the title wasn’t enough indication, the duo discuss love gone sour over the song’s spine-tingling chords and thumping drums.

Blake recently discussed his forthcoming project in an exclusive interview with Billboard’s The Juice. “The album is called ‘Songs About Melody’ cause all the songs are about one girl,” the 22-year-old revealed. “I couldn’t use her name but melody is my strong point when I write songs so [with] the wordplay, melody can be about a girl or that feeling that you get when you hear a great melody.”

Songs About Melody will also include the Common-assisted love song “X.O.X.,” which also appeared on his 2012 EP Bijoux 22.

Considering that No I.D. will oversee much of the album, we think it’s safe to say Blake could deliver something special. Check out “Vendetta” below.
