Along with plenty of successes, Sean “Diddy” Combs always has the nagging reality of plenty of disgruntled former Bad Boy Records artists in his wake. So much so that there has long been talk of a Bad Boy curse. But, K-Ci & JoJo (Cedric “K-Ci” Hailey and Joel “JoJo” Hailey), who worked with Diddy when they were blowing up the R&B world with Jodeci, aren’t buying into the conspiracy.

“A Bad Boy curse? I don’t think so,” K-Ci told Hip-Hop Wired when asked if he thought there was such a thing.

Added Jo Jo, “Actually Diddy wasn’t a bad boy. I mean he gave us an image. He’s smart. He had a lot to do with our image and everything. He showed us around New York and he played a big part of Jodeci’s career. Actually, he was like the fifth member.”

The Hailey brothers were never on Bad Boy Records but Jodeci was signed to Uptown Records when Diddy, then going by “Puff Daddy,” was rapidly rising as an executive in the music business.

K-Ci & JoJo’s new album, My Brother’s Keeper, is in stores now. Check out more of K-Ci and Jojo’s thoughts on Diddy as well as their own longevity in the video below.
