Wale might have outdone himself (see “Back 2 Ballin”) with the visual for “Golden Salvation (Jesus Piece)” from his third studio album, The Gifted. On the track, the MMG affiliated lyricist rhymes from the perspective of a souped-up chain.

The line, “I died for you all, now you n***as die over me,” is a pertinent line in the landscape of the treatment’s narrative. Viewers see the world through the crystallized view of a Jesus piece, and what owning one does for and to the owner. There’s a lot of foreshadowing in this one, so we suggest that you play close attention to the nuances.

Veteran directors, Coodie and Chike, also known as Creative Control, shot the stunning video.

The Gifted can be purchased via iTunes. Watch “Golden Salvation (Jesus Piece)” below, and give us your thoughts on Wale’s approach in the comments.
