There are some dream collaborations that Hip-Hop purists would gladly pay to see come to fruition. Right at the top of that list is the long delayed but still very much anticipated Nas album solely produced by DJ Premier. Even though many years have passed since they originally presented the concept, Premo recently confirmed that the album will get done.

In an interview conducted with Where’s My 40 Acres? at the recent A3C festival in Atlanta, the master beatsmith admitted that the album is in indeed going to see the light of day.

“It’s coming. I just saw him last week – it’s coming,” said the Gang Starr member. “He has another project to drop on Def Jam [Records], then he is a free agent. So let him get that out. That gives me time to get my artists prepped and ready. Then we can all tour together or something.”

DJ Premier played a major role in Nas’ groundbreaking debut album Illmatic with production on “N.Y.State Of Mind,” “Represent” and “Memory Lane (Sittin’ in da Park).”. Premier has since gone on to craft additional classic records for the Queensbridge MC and other critically acclaimed artists including Jay Z and The Notorious B.I.G..

Back in 2005, Preem and Nas graced the cover of the now defunct Scratch magazine confirming the collaboration. Since then very little has been said about the LP, leaving fans in the dark on whether it would ever come to life or continue to drift into the same album abyss that Detox has called home for the last 10 plus years.
