Anti-gay preacher and conservative radio talk show co-host Kevin Swanson previously made headlines for telling gay couples they should die on their wedding days. Swanson makes a return to the national conversation after saying that Girl Scout cookies are “wicked” and that the organization promotes “ungodly womanhood.”

Pastors Kevin Swanson and Dave Buehner of Generations Radio were talking cookies like all good radio hosts should on Monday (Oct. 21), turning their attention on the Girl Scouts organization and their yearly fundraiser event. Thanks to conservative watchdog group Right Wing Watch, a transcript of the conversation between Swanson and Buehner highlights the pastors’ stern warning against the “antithetical” girls-only empire.

From Right Wing Watch:

I’d say you ought to say no the Girl Scout cookies too. I don’t want to support lesbianism, I don’t want to support Planned Parenthood and I don’t want to support abortion, and if that be the case I’m not buying Girl Scout cookies. Now I suppose if you take a big, fat, black magic marker and you say, ‘give me that box,’ and you start marking out all of the references to the Girl Scouts of America on all the boxes then maybe we’re not promoting that organization anymore and I’d be willing to buy it.

Chief among Swanson’s concerns is that the Girl Scouts of America are teaching young girls how to be independent and free of being a so-called “helpmate” to men, and that they’re also promoting women to compete with men in the job marketplace.

“Please, I beg of you, stop buying Girl Scout cookies,” said Swanson in an earnest plea. “And if you do, take a big black magic marker and cross out all of the references to Girl Scouts of America on all of the signs and all of the boxes because we do not want to promote that organization.”

Yes, it didn’t make sense to us either.
