Like Michael Jordan to the Wizards, it’s kind of hard to picture Kobe Bryant in anything other than a Los Angeles Laker jersey. And it’s no secret that the Lake Show is currently under construction until further notice.

So in drastic times, drastic measures are taken and the Purple ‘N Gold may have a trick up their sleeve that may or may not see them keeping the five-time NBA champ.

Via the Fox Sports:

“He becomes a free agent at the end of the season, and Jim Buss says because of the pay structure of the NBA, the Lakers will allow Kobe to become a free agent,” Simers writes. “He says he has talked to Kobe and believes they have an understanding, Bryant waiting as a free agent while the team spends to upgrade and then using what is left over to pay Kobe. ‘We’ve probably talked,’ says Kobe while being somewhat vague, ‘but I’m putting off any thought of that.’ ”

Bryant insists, however, you’ll never see him on the floor as a shell of himself.

“It’s not going to happen,” he said. “I’ve talked to a lot of actors who won’t take a role if they don’t think they can execute it.”

It’s a noble gesture for Kobe Bean not to troll the NBA with lousy play but giving his drive and will to win, would he ever really convince himself when he’s washed up? He’s been enduring all sorts of Dr. Frankenstein-like procedures for his Achilles and history has told us those things really never properly heal. We shall come January how the grueling NBA season’s schedule is treating him.
