George Zimmerman, who was acquitted in the murder trial of unarmed Black Florida teenager Trayvon Martin, has recently joined Twitter.

Yes, you read that last sentence correctly. One of the most hated men in America has a started a Twitter account; a public profile at that. Created on December 16, Zimmerman is tweeting away with what seems to be no fear of retribution from the masses.

His first update was a link to his original painting listed on Ebay.com that went on to sell for over $100,000.00 dollars. Since then the Stand Your Ground law advocate has tweeted a mix thank you’s to his various supporters and Bible quotes: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17”.

Since the Trayvon Martin trial, @TherealGeorgeZ has found himself still very close to the long arm of the law. In July he was pulled over for speeding in Texas. Soon after he was arrested on a domestic violence charge where allegedly threatened his wife and father in law. And last month he was again arrested for domestic violence but this time the accuser was his girlfriend.

His account has yet to be verified but his Ebay seller page, which carries the same handle of @TherealGeorgeZ,  links to this account. As of now he has a little over 1,200 followers but expect that number to increase rapidly once the word gets around.

Do you think it is insensitive for Zimmerman to be on Twitter this soon or does he have the right to be on social media? Let us know your opinion in the comments section below.
