Since America is over 50 years removed from Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, it’s natural for some of today’s youth to miss the semblance of its significance and why there is a holiday observed in his honor.

What isn’t natural is photoshopped pictures of MLK “throwing up the westside” while wearing gold chains standing next to Beamers.

The Boondocks predicted this atrocious future and this, ladies and gents, is the world of struggle we live in.

As if it was an underground pact to blatantly soil the image of the beloved Civil Rights leader, cities such as Cleveland, Flint, MI and shockingly Atlanta (sarcasm) all joined hands to produce the outrageous content of club flyers that totally go against Dr. King’s message of civility.

When Dr. Bernice King got wind of her father’s legacy being used to promote epic levels of ratchetness, needless to say she was a bit peeved.

Via MYFox Atlanta:

“I feel like we have failed to reach these (groups),” Dr. King told FOX 5’s Deidra Dukes in an exclusive interview.

“This imagery thing is just appalling, and it’s almost embarrassing,” Dr. King remarked. “For me, as his daughter, it’s like ‘wow’, I lost a father who sacrificed everything for them to live a much more dignified and respectful life, and for it to come to this makes me sad,” King concluded.

Failure seems like an appropriate choice of words, wouldn’t you agree?

Check the gallery for all the MLK twerk flyers that have been circulating around the Internet this year. Black America, we have to better.
