Four people who authorities think may be connected to the suspected heroin overdose death of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman were arrested Tuesday (February 4). Narcotic detectives entered a Lower Manhattan apartment building, arresting three men and a woman along with seizing more than 350 bags of heroin.
The investigators were tipped off into searching the building after looking into Hoffman’s death this past Sunday. A branded type of heroin known as “Ace Of Spades,” which was found in Hoffman’s apartment, was not among the 350 bags seized from the three apartments in the Manhattan building Tuesday according to a New York Times report.
Robert Vineberg, 57, and 48-year-old Thomas Cushman were arrested on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police also charged Vineberg with possession of drug paraphernalia although it wasn’t reported what was found.
Two younger persons were also arrested. Max Rosenblum and Juliana Luchkiw, both 22, were arrested on charges of criminal use of drug paraphernalia, criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.
According to the Times report, the lethal dose of heroin that killed Hoffman did not contain traces of fentanyl, an additive responsible for the deaths of 22 people in Pennsylvania. The investigation into the actor’s death is still ongoing.
