10 years ago 50 Cent was the hottest Rap talent in the world. Now in 2014; not so much. Today the G-Unit boss has chosen to leave Interscope Records to go independent.
Fif’ has sold over 30 million records throughout his career. His success positioned him as one of Hip-Hop’s power players. But recently the Queens native has not produced any impactful music that has matched the public reception of even his more mediocre material.
With his Curtis and Before I Self Destruct his sales, airplay and relevancy have have all progressively declined leaving him in a bit of a weird space artistically. So just like any other business owner it is looking like 50 is changing his strategy.
But coming from someone who has a history of talking slick about his rival’s financial situation and or recording home, the announcement was met with mixed reviews.
