The 29th annual Independent Spirit Awards took place without a hiccup yesterday, March 1 in Santa Monica, CA.
Although they will be forever overshadowed by their more distinguished Academy Awards counterpart, the indie platform still goes the distance in recognizing talent that is oft-overlooked on a national scale.
Plus, their red blue carpet still brings out the crème de la crème of Hollywood beauty.
Paula Patton didn’t act like she was currently dragging Robin Thicke through separation struggle as she illuminated the scene in a lemon yellow body-hugger. As welcomed color contrast, Angela Bassett continues to age like fine wine, evidenced by the way she brought her orange ensemble out to make it an early spring.
On the winner’s front, 12 Years a Slave</a> took home five honors including Best Feature, Best Director and Best Supporting Female for the incomparable Lupita Nyong’o.
