His body was found on the 3000 block of West 53rd place, at around 1 a.m. Police say the shooting was gang-related. No arrests have been made, but authorities believe a “known offender” is responsible for killing Martinez.
Elsewhere in the city, two men –ages 23, and 25 — were shot at 3:55 a.m. Both were members of the same gang, police said. The men were transported to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital, and are expected to survive.

Weekend shooting sprees are nothing new to Chicago. In June 2013 46 people were shot, and nine were killed in one weekend. The next month, a whopping 74 people were shot over the 4th of July holiday weekend.
