Following a handful of animated treatments, The Roots bring it back to reality in the official visual for “Never,” featuring Patty Crash, from their …and then you shoot your cousin LP.

Set in a dystopian world where men and women as we know them no longer exist, a man finds himself all alone as a new breed of human — devoid of eyes and mouths — are in hot pursuit. There’s a lot of symbolism in the clip, including a stop sign that the loner sees repeatedly. It’s clear that he feels like Bill Murray trapped in Punxsutawney — don’t mind the reference.

But in a strange turn of events, the man receives a long awaited blessing. Or did he?

You’ll have to peep the video for The Roots’ “Never” below to see how things pan out. Also, be sure to cop the legendary collective’s new album, …and then you shoot your cousin, on iTunes.
