The film crew of the upcoming N.W.A movie Straight Outta Compton aren’t messing around in getting the movie into production.

Last week, Ice Cube was forced to let the cat out of the bag that he was being portrayed by his son and now the other two biggest roles in Dr. Dre and Eazy-E have been cast. Forgoing star power with reported big on-screen presence, Cube, the real Dre and Eazy-E’s widow Tomica Wright have signed off for two relatively unknown actors to star in the film, according to Billboard.

Marcus Callender will assume the role of Andre “Dr. Dre” Young and Jason Mitchell will morph into the mogul-in-the-making Eric “Eazy-E” Wright.

It should be interesting for Callender, who is an alum of New York’s Shakespeare Lab at the Public Theater, to transform his studios acting chops into a hardened kid from Compton but he does have experience in CBS crime dramas Blue Bloods and Elementary so it shouldn’t be too much of a task for him.

Mitchell on the other hand, has starred alongside Mark Wahlberg in 2012’s Contraband and 2013’s Broken City with Kate Beckinsale and Russell Crowe appearing on the former and latter, respectively. Straight Outta Compton will be his first leading role but it is being said that his screen test made him a no-brainer for the part.

Principal photography is expected to begin in just two months.
