The official Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer was supposed to premiere during next Tuesday’s episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but you know how these operations on the Internet go. You better have a thought that counts because rarely does anything go according to plan.

Clocking in at a full two minutes and eleven seconds, the plot is immediately thickened as the mayhem that closed out the first film seems to have been doubled when our heroes were figured to have saved the day.

“I’m going to show you something beautiful: everyone…screaming for mercy,” said James Spader’s-voiced Ultron to open up the chaotic scene of streets on fire and panic being spread amongst the citizens. The entire gang has returned; Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man; Chris Evans as Captain America; Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow; Chris Hemsworth as Thor; Mark Ruffalo as The Incredible Hulk; Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, but their lack of cohesion is immediately highlighted throughout the brevity of the action-filled snippet.

Stark’s technology has seemingly turned against the saviors of the galaxy and combined with the relentlessness of Ultron, they seemingly have buckled under the pressure. Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson have both been added to the melee as the Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver, respectively but it may not be enough. The preview ends with a quick flash of Captain America’s indestructible shield seen broken in half, so to say the superheroes have their work cut out for them would be a understatment.
