St. Louis rapper Tef Poe is one of the few artists that puts on for his city in all ways. The outspoken activist took to his familiar medium of music to unleash a scathing diss record against Missouri Governor Jay Nixon in response to  recent incidents in Ferguson.

Tef Poe has been on the front lines of the peaceful protests in Ferguson aimed at the city’s police department after the shooting death of teenager Michael “Mike” Brown. Tef Poe’s “War Cry” is produced by DJ Smitty and the aggressive track is matched by some of the most ferocious bars heard in some time. Tef Poe minces no words, and as he says in the hook, “With every breath in my body, it’s f-ck Jay Nixon!” while also taking shots at a few others.

Gov. Nixon’s handling of the Ferguson matter has been viewed as underwhelming by many of Brown’s supporters. Nixon also levied on Tuesday what seemed to be a threat to protesters as the grand jury ruling regarding Officer Darren Wilson was coming to a head.

Showing and proving its more than rap, Brown’s mother Lesley McSpadden, Tef Poe and others traveled to Geneva recently to present a case for justice against police brutality at the United Nations.
