Sunday, January 4, was a long, somber day for fans of sports, journalism, and all-around great people alike; it also marked the end of an era, as beloved ESPN sports anchor Stuart Scott died after his third bout with cancer. Love and adoration for Scott’s warm, charismatic and truthful commentary on-air came from all angles, especially from the Hip-Hop audience, which he represented well. But none were as heartfelt as the message from Rich Eisen, a friend and former co-anchor on ESPN’s SportsCenter who fought tears as announced the passing of his colleague. Eisen offered a second homage later at his current post on NFL Network, where he used some of Scott’s popular catchphrases during a game recap. Peep that footage above.
