A former America’s Next Top Model contestant was murdered in what police are calling a drug-related triple homicide in North Carolina, Tuesday (Feb. 24). The body of 19-year-old Mirjana Puhar was found along with her boyfriend, Jonathan Cosme Alvarado, 23, and a roommate, Jusmar Isiah Gonzaga-Garcia, 21 inside their apartment.
Authorities arrested 19-year-old Emmaneul Jesus Rangel on three counts of murder. Rangel is believed to have known the victims.
The bodies were discovered by a friend, according to TMZ:
A source who was very close to Mirjana confirmed to TMZ that she was one of the 3 victims found dead in a home that belonged to Mirjana’s boyfriend. The source says a friend of the couple went to the house after getting a call that gunshots were heard.
We’re told the friend went into the house, saw 2 bodies — Mirjana and the bf — and then called police to report the killings. The friend didn’t see the 3rd victim, but did see money scattered around the house.
Rangel is also charged in an unrelated murder of a victim killed last Sunday.
Puhar was a native of Serbia. She fled the country with her family, and was raised in North Carolina. She appeared on last season of ANTM, but was eliminated in the 10th episode.
Show producers Ken Mok and Tyra Banks said of Puhar in a statement,” She was a vivacious and promising young woman. Our hearts and prayers go out to her loved ones.”
