If you were patiently waiting on your payday to get your hands on some Mayweather-Pacquiao tickets, sorry to tell you but you’re SOL.

The tickets that were reserved for the general public went on sale at 3 p.m. EST and by 3:01, they were gone.

It took less than a minute for fans to snatch up all the available tickets on public sale to see Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao face off on May 2 at the MGM Grand after they were released at 3 p.m. ET on Thursday.

The swiftness of the public sale spoke to the impatience over the delay in available tickets and also to the excitement surrounding the fight, which promises to break every financial record associated with the sport.

“I’m sure people were lined up to order those tickets online and in the queues,” said Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum. “They couldn’t wait for the tickets to finally go on sale.”

After the fight was announced in late February, it took more than two months for the camps to come together and sign a site contract with the MGM in Las Vegas, where the fight will take place, allowing the tickets to be released.

The eagerness to buy tickets also likely spoke to the lack of tickets that were available.

Roughly 500 tickets were released on Thursday, ranging in face value from $1,500 to $7,500 for a venue with a seating capacity of just 16,700, with the MGM and the fighters controlling the rest of the allotment.

Even if the fight doesn’t live up to the hype, there’s no doubt in our mind that Black Twitter will hold it down.
