Apologies are temporary patches in the case of Lil Wayne’s withheld album The Carter V, which Mannie Fresh spoke about during an interview with Montreality.

The famed producer has some credits on the album, and didn’t make the wait for it any easier as he described its sound to be similar to the Wayne of old.

“We kinda went back to that original Cash Money feel, like you know what I’m saying, what you grew up on,” Mannie said. “Like, the Mannie Fresh sound that you knew Wayne and Mannie did, the chemistry. So it’s more of that original, that first Carter.

Tha Carter V, the centerpiece of a heated legal battle between its creator Wayne and Cash Money Records, remains one of 2015’s most anticipated albums and a pain in the New Orleans rapper’s side.

In recent weeks, he’s publicly lashed out against the label, his “father” Birdman, and even pop’s latest protege Young Thug.
